Nothing With a Twist is a concept blog attempting to bridge the gap between consumer and creator. Along with an extensive catalogue of artists and their craft world-wide, this page aims to link you directly to whichever unique, mystical, earthy or shiny object suits your needs and interests.

AVF Jewelry is the brainchild of Alicia Van Fleteren, who works out of Northern California. The artist uses international inspiration, collecting stones and raw materials from around the world to feature in her pieces (like the peruvian opal necklace seen above). There is a dab of elegance and simplicity to her presentation, paired with a ‘bohemian edge’ emphasized by large, center-piece stones. AVF is great for intergenerational appreciation, with some of the larger pendents possessing that ‘straight fromt he festival’ feel, while more delicate and understated pieces would make for a perfect gift for mothers and grandmothers who may remember Woodstock, but are not trying to relive it. The variety of necklaces, bracelets and earrings range from around $30 to the high $100s.

Shed Beads, run by Shelby Ring out of LA, brings a modern spin to artisan glass lampwork beads. With each bead in the $20 price range, Shelby crafts beautiful swirls and intricate glass overlays that can only be described as ‘of the earth.’ Marine themes, including shells and waves, are partnered with earthy colors (like the jasper imitation beads). The shop features a collection of individual beads, earrings, and an assortment of screw-top rings with interchangeable parts.

E.G.Etal, located in Melbourne, brings together a collective of artists, jewelry makers, and innovators to offer unique and extremely rare pieces at all price ranges. Artists from New Zealand and Australia make up the bulk of the site’s offerings, but international artists occasionally make an appearance with their wares. Each artist is profiled and catalogued, giving the purchaser an opportunity to get to know whose hands created their future item.  Pricey, but great if looking for particular, one-of-a-kind works. Clean, modern design is embellished with natural cut stones, layers, and intricacies. The layout of the site streamlines accessibility with a show-room type of glamour, emphasizing with minimalism the delicate and unique nature of the products.
